Meet Cheri & David Slay
Welcome! I am so glad you found our page!
We are a husband and wife team dedicated to reaching as many families as possible with life-saving aquatic skills. ISR Lexington has been serving the families of the Bluegrass with drowning prevention since 2016. This past year, 2019, we were excited to begin reaching families in the Winchester area as well!
Know your instructor: Mrs. Cheri
I started off as a competitive swimmer from a young age, and then transitioned into teaching traditional swim instruction for all ages and skill levels. I taught traditional lessons for 7 years before joining the ISR team. After educating myself on the tragedies of how drowning effects so many families nation wide, I knew I had to do more than just give children an enjoyment of the water through traditional swim instruction. I became a Certified Infant Swim Instructor with a passion to make a lasting difference for the children in my community, by giving them the potentially life-saving skills, and competence and confidence to be aquatic problem solvers.
Know your instructor: Coach David
With a degree in communication, and a background in management and sales, working with people is a passion of mine. Drowning prevention touched close to home for me, due to a near drowning experience as a child in a small, shallow body of water behind the home I grew up in. Little did I know, until years later as an adult, that drowning is the #1 cause of death in children 4 and under. After seeing my wife train and teach for several years, and the joy it brought so many families who's children received these life-saving skills, I knew I wanted to be a part of the ISR team as well.
While drowning prevention is the heart beat of why we do what we do, we are passionate about your child's well being as a whole. ISR provides a thorough registration process that gives each instructor the tools to provide your child with the best lessons possible, giving us the capability to work with children on varying spectrums from SPD, autism, down syndrome, and more.
We consider it pure joy and an incredible blessing to give these children the gift of a lifetime. We love meeting new people, educating others about the program and watching students develop the confidence in themselves as swimmers.
We look forward to teaching your child and working together to assure that "not one more child drowns!"
